Advocate for Crohn’s disease
Rocio Castrillon is a multilingual Strategic Marketing professional, with over 20 years’ experience in advertising, branding and integrated marketing. She proudly holds an MBA in Global Business, as well as a BBA in International Business and Marketing. Originally from Peru, she currently lives in the United States, California. She utilizes her fluency in both Spanish and French, combined with her marketing background, in her professional career and in her IBD advocacy work to expand patient accessibility to quality IBD information, resources, and research initiatives.
Rocio has been living with Crohn’s disease for over 20 years and believes in the power of the patient voice. Since her diagnosis, she has been passionately involved as a volunteer with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation through fundraising, advocating, and mentoring. She moderates a Spanish virtual support group, as well as a Hispanic/Latino online community, demonstrating her commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. She sits on numerous task forces and committees for the Foundation, allowing her to be a voice for IBD patients. With great pride, in 2024, Rocio was inducted into the National Board of Trustees for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, as well as appointed onto the Gastroenterology Specialty Board for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
Rocio is a published author, an IBD patient advocate, and patient public speaker and has been featured in Healthline and Everyday Health.
