Advocate for Crohn’s disease

Joe Teeters

Joe Teeters is a veteran of the Naval Reserves, an uncle, cat dad, advocate, comedian, speaker, Crohn’s disease patient and permanent ileostomate.

Joe has had Crohn’s Disease for over 32 years. His diagnosis at the age of 19 cut short his time in the Navy with a medical discharge. Over the past 32 years he has been on many different medical regimens including many of the biologics when they came on the market. Joe has had three major intestinal surgeries including his full proctocolectomy in 2012 which earned him his membership into the “Barbie Butt Club.” Joe has had a long career in healthcare IT and spent many years studying, teaching and performing improvisational comedy and theater.

In 2015, Joe, along with his best friend and fellow IBD warrior and ostomate, Danielle Gulden, founded Double Baggin’ It. Together they use their humor, wisdom, and stories to connect with and support other people living with ostomies and inflammatory bowel disease. They believe in the power of humor, advocacy and awareness!
